UFC 249: Results and Main Card Analysis

UFC 249 finally happened and it was one of the best cards ever, with a lot of points to talk about and pounds of stunners and shockers.

Henry Cejudo announced his retirement in the octagon following the bout, “I’m 33, I’m happy with my career, “Triple C’s out.” Said Cejudo, who has had quite a good career, With the win, Cejudo retired with 16-2 record while Cruz fell to 22-3.

"I've done enough in the sport. I want to walk away and enjoy myself. I'm 33 years old. I have a girl now, watching me from back home. Since I was 11, I've sacrificed my life to get to where I was tonight. I'm retiring tonight. Uncle Dana [UFC president Dana White], thank you. Everybody here, thank you so much."Ultimately I want to leave on top and I think that's every fighter's dream but nobody does it." He said at the end of after fight interview.

The other talking point was Francis Ngannou knocked out Jairzinho Rozenstruik in just 20 seconds and Jairzinho was out cold with blows from Ngannou. No. 2-ranked Ngannou moves to 15-3 and looked incredibly in shape. There isn't much to analyze in a 20-second KO, this man is definitely not up to my level he said later.

The main Point was Justin Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson yes you heard it right Justin Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson and that was one hell of a fight, Tony was slow and frankly, I was astonished that how this happened, I had never seen Tony fight this way, man! As far as we’ve seen him he’s one hell of a fighter and he wasn’t himself at all, the ‘El Cucuy’ was all only focused on defending although he landed an amazing right uppercut which almost knocked Justin out until the round ended, after that, it was Gaethje and Gaethje

he remained in control in the third and fourth round and went on and on and had some blows, on the contrary, Tony Ferguson ‘take a bow’ I mean how the hell did he take so many shots, how did he survive so many shots man, those were some hard-hitting blows which would be KO’S for some fighters but Tony kept on taking them and he was unbattered and kept on fighting it was incredible how he managed to do that but he did! But in the end, Gaethje earning the fourth straight stoppage thanks to a crushing blow right on “Tony Ferguson’s” nose to earn his first UFC title ever and more importantly his huge match against The Eagle ‘Khabib Nurmagomedov’ later this year.

"You get one life and I'm living a crazy one and it's so awesome. I can't wait for that challenge (fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov) win or lose, don't care, I'm going to give it 100 % that's all I ever do." Said Justin in the post-conference.

"I told my coaches, 'You're not gonna like it, but I'm ready to die tonight,'" Gaethje said in the cage interview later with Joe Rogan. "That's the mentality you have to come in there with."
