Mi Notebook 14: Specifications, Review

The most awaited mi notebook has finally has been launched in India and as expected they have great specifications with aggressive pricing and giving their competitors a run for their money here is a quick specs and my opinion in the end:

The Mi Notebook 14 comes in three variants: the basic model which has 8GB RAM + 256GB SSD and is priced at Rs 41,999 , another variant which comes with 8GB RAM + 512GB SSD costs Rs 47,999, and top-end model with 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, + NVIDIA GeForce MX250 priced at Rs 47,999. These are inaugural pricing until July 16 and may change.

Mi also launched their Notebook 14 in a Horizon Edition which also comes in two variants: the basic model: 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD along with Intel Core i5 10th generation which costs around Rs 54,999 and comes with the latest Core i7 10th generation which is priced at Rs 59,999.

Both of the laptops come with a sleek 14-inch display, magnesium-aluminum body along with 10th gen Intel CPUs and aggressively less pricing which challenges the established laptop brands which are in the market

Both of the laptops come with anti-glare FHD LCD panels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The Horizon Edition has slimmer 3mm bezels on the sides and top which gives the laptop a 91% screen-to-body ratio. Bezels being so less resulting in leaving no room for a built-in webcam which is why Xiaomi is giving, Mi Webcam HD inside the box of Mi NoteBook 14.

The standard Mi NoteBook 14 comes with bigger and more bezels but still has a compact design and weighs around 1.5kg on the other hand Horizon Edition weighs in at 1.35kg due to fewer bezels. Both laptops have bottom-firing stereo speakers with single finger lid opening.

As far as input-output is concerned, the laptop comes with two USB 3.1 ports alongside a single USB 2.0, HDMI, and a Type-C port. There’s a port for a headphone jack and a dedicated charging port. The device comes with 46W batteries which claim at 10 hours of usage with 65W charger which claims to charge the battery to 50% in just 30 minutes.

Xiaomi also has its Mi Blaze Unlock which allows it’s users to unlock the laptops from their Mi Band and also have Mi Smart Share for faster file transfers from Xiaomi phones.

The Mi NoteBook 14 series come with Windows 10 Home and a free month of Office 365.

Some cons include there is no backlit keyboard, it does have windows hello Cortana due to the missing camera, although you get the camera you have to carry it around if you need camera around.

My opinion on this is Xiaomi after almost conquering mid-range smartphone markets have stepped in the laptop market and as their typical ideology and marketing they’ve given great features at a very less price and it will be interesting to see whether it will work in the Indian market or not especially after boycotting Chinese products is trending.

Looking at the device, the laptop is really good slim, strong, with a great processor and fast too, and with some good features and looking at the price it’s really worth it, but it’s your money your choice where to invest after all.
