How to keep your body immune and fight viruses effectively!

Immunity is the capability of multicellular organisms to resist harmful microorganisms from entering their cells. Immunity involves both specific and nonspecific components. The nonspecific components act as barriers or eliminators of a wide range of pathogens irrespective of their antigenic make-up.

You can be infected by breathing air which consists the virus if you are within close proximity of someone who has it, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Here are some simple steps to keep any virus away from you :

Drink warm water:

Drinking warm water has several benefits like it calms the central nervous system, it moisturizes your skin, improves circulation, and many more but drinking warm water relieves your body's nasal congestion, drinking hot or warm water on a consistent basis may kill the virus if it is present. But remember to drink lots of water and just make sure it's warm or hot enough as you drink it on a consistent basis for your health and also keep you hydrated. Drinking 5 – 8 glasses of warm/hot water daily is enough to keep your body, skin, and hair hydrated and also get several health benefits


Steam inhalation is one of the most important processes as the heat of the steam may kill the virus so make sure you take steam on a regular basis. If the virus has to get killed in the paranasal Sinuses itself, frequent intake of steam inhalation and drinking hot water is very essential. A temperature of 60 to 70 deg C will be ideal for harming the viruses.


A traditional Aryuvedic and yogic practice commonly called the 'Jalaneeti' which clears the nose and sinus passages through nasal irrigation and is an effective way to prevent the virus enter the body.

Drinking hot water is very essential( avoid normal water), steam should be taken twice a day (especially people who go out of their house) and it must be inhaled deeply inside your lungs, gargle your throat before bed, keep a light diet and practice the Jala neeti process regularly.

Other simple and very important steps are having healthy and immunity rich foods, maintaining social distancing, wearing mask anytime you step out of the house which is the most important thing as it helps a lot in keeping viruses at bay!
